The sustainable rooms and suites of Plaza Resort Bonaire

The rooms and suites of Plaza Beach & Dive Resort Bonaire cannot lag behind in terms of sustainability. The resort is constantly making innovations on the resort itself, as well as in the rooms.

Eco-friendly air conditioning

The traditional air conditioners are being replaced by new, eco-friendly air conditioners that will keep your room pleasantly cool during your stay. At the moment, the new air conditioners have already been installed in all rooms, resulting in a savings between 10-30% per room. Although these air conditioners are much more efficient than traditional models, you are still requested to turn off your air conditioner when leaving your room.

Economical Boilers

Last year, our technicians have been busy installing new type of boilers. The old traditional boilers used at least 3300 watts to heat 200 liters of water. The new heat pump boilers that have been installed only use 800 watts to heat 300 liters of water. These heat pumps use the warm air from outside to heat the water and emit cold air which cools maintenance rooms. One new type of boiler is sufficient to provide hot water for 4 Grand Suites.

LED Lighting

Sustainable LED lamps have been installed everywhere in the resort; in the restaurant, walking paths, hotel rooms, beach, and offices. With an average of 16 lamps per hotel room, there are already more than 2000 lamps installed there alone. The LED lighting installed in the rooms uses an average of 5 watts per bulb, as opposed to 40 watts with traditional incandescent bulbs.
