Water consumption

Our water is drinking water of very good quality. Water is becoming increasingly precious, which is why Plaza Beach & Dive Resort Bonaire pays more attention to its conservation. As part of our environmental policy, we like to make our staff and guests aware of their own water usage. Additionally, the resort is heavily focused on reducing water consumption by using sustainable water savers on taps and toilets, and we use almost all purified wastewater to water our plants.

Reuse with greywater

Perhaps you have heard of the term 'greywater': lightly polluted wastewater that, for example, comes from the shower, kitchen and washing machine. It gets its name from the gray color the water takes on after being stored standing still for a while. At Plaza Beach & Dive Resort Bonaire, we purify this greywater. During the purification process, undissolved organic parts from the greywater, such as soap residues, are broken down and we then use the water for irrigating our gardens.

Will you help reduce water consumption?

We make you aware of unnecessary water waste in various ways. Do you want to contribute? Then we can really use your help! Being mindful of water at our resort can be done in the following ways:

• You can choose whether you want to receive clean towels every day. We therefore ask you to place the towels you wish to have washed on the floor and hang the towels you still want to use on the hooks. This way, unnecessary water is not wasted and we contribute to nature.

• Try to turn off the tap while washing hands, brushing teeth, and shaving.

• Is it not necessary to flush the toilet with a lot of water during a visit? Then try to use a small amount of water.
