Yes, they can! Both residents and non-residents can legally marry in Bonaire, as long as they meet the requirements of the civil registry.

What are the requirements to get married in Bonaire?

Both partners must be 18 years or older. The application must be submitted at least 6 weeks in advance, along with official documents (such as birth certificate and marital status), in Dutch or with official translation.

Do we need to be physically present to apply for marriage?

No, the application can be started remotely. However, the couple must be present a few days before the ceremony to finalize last-minute details.

Is marriage in Bonaire internationally recognized?

Yes, official marriages in Bonaire are internationally valid.

What documents do we need?

To arrange your marriage, you need a valid passport, as well as a birth certificate (international or with a translation) and a declaration of single status or a divorce certificate. In some cases, proof of residence is also required. Note: all documents must not be older than six months and must be legalized with an apostille.

Can we also have a symbolic wedding on the beach?

Absolutely. Many couples choose to have a beach ceremony alongside or after the official moment. This can be customized according to your preferences.

What about witnesses?

A minimum of two and a maximum of four witnesses are required. If desired, we can arrange these for you.
