ISLAND TOUR BONAIRE

DISCOVER

Bonaire is more than its reef. In the south you find the bright white salt flats and the slave huts that tell the harsh story of salt harvesting. In the north lies Rincon, the oldest village on the island, and lookout points over the rugged coast. On this guided island tour you see it all, with a local guide who knows not only the route but also the stories behind it. Along the way there is a good chance of spotting flamingos at the salt flats and Lake Goto.

The south: salt, history and flamingos

THE SOUTHERN ROUTE

Along the salt flats the water turns pink and mountains of salt glisten in the sun. At the slave huts you hear the story of the people who harvested salt here under inhumane conditions, a history that belongs to any visit to Bonaire. There is a good chance you will spot flamingos in the salt lakes along the way.

The north: Rincon and the rugged coast

THE NORTHERN ROUTE

The north is greener and hillier. You visit Rincon, the oldest village of Bonaire, and stop at lookout points where you watch the waves pound the north coast. The guide explains how the island was settled and how today's culture came to be.
